Breguet Type XXII 10 Hz Chronograph watch, round stainless steel case (44mm diameter, 17.3mm thickness), stainless steel bracelet with hidden folding clasp, uni-directional rotating bezel with black Arabic numerals, black dial with luminous Arabic numerals and hands, date indication at 6 o'clock, chronograph function (central seconds, 30 min, 12 hours, day/night), 28 jewel caliber 589 F self-winding 10Hz movement with silicon escapement and 45 hour power reserve, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, water-resistant to 100 meters.
In 2010, Breguet introduced its first 10Hz watch, a Type XXII (reference 3880ST). This new movement with silicon escapement and flat balance spring reaches an exceptionally high frequency of 10 Hertz (i.e. 72,000 vibrations per hour), giving the movement exceptional regulating power, with its chronograph seconds hand making a complete rotation every 30 seconds. The timepiece’s start function and readout are thus twice as precise. At the heart of this technical exploit is the use of silicon, resulting in more lightweight mobile components and the avoidance of the lubrication problems generated by high frequencies.
